About Us
Woodward Smith Chartered Architects has grown since its predecessor practice Michael J Smith and Associates was formed in 1981. Mike passed on the reigns of the practice in 2006 to John Woodward who continued to grow the practice ably assisted by Matt Steart who was at the time studying part time to get his architectural qualifications.
In 2013 Matt became an Associate of the practice which led to Matt becoming a partner in 2016. The practice continued to grow with the long-standing team members continuing to show their dedication, and in 2023 Lee Mathews was promoted to Associate as recognition of his invaluable input over a number of years with the practice.
In 2024, now in the current chapter with Matt Steart (some 24 years after starting with the firm!) taking full ownership of the practice, with John Woodward moving to a part time consultancy role. The practice, continues to strive for the level of architectural consideration and attention to detail that Mike did some 40 years ago.
